ADVERTISEMENT FOR R EQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP) - BID PACKAGE 4
PROJECT NOTICE
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) has selected design-builder (McCarthy Building Companies) for the San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, Demolition of Building 38 and Construction of New Educational and Vocation Center at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center, a public works project.
The following Work Categories (WC) are being solicited for this RFP:
WC 08-05 (Doors, Frames, and Hardware)
The RFP basis of selection will be lowest responsive bid.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
California State Prison San Quentin Rehabilitation Center New Educational And Vocational Center Project: New construction of educational and vocational center to provide educational treatment for residents of San Quentin rehabilitation center. Buildings A, B, and C shall be constructed within the existing secured perimeter of
The facility while building d shall be constructed outside of the secured perimeter just north of the existing high security wall. Buildings A, B, C are free egress creating a normative environment based on the new 'California model' in partnership with the Governor’s advisory council in association with California Department of Corrections And Rehabilitation (CDCR). Though located in a secured environment, the facility will be designed and built as a typical adult educational campus and will not fall under CBC Chapter 12, Section 1230.
Building A: Shall contain learning / educational / vocational spaces media studios, staff areas and building support spaces.
Building B: Shall contain learning / educational spaces, library, staff areas and building support spaces.
Building C: Shall contain learning / educational spaces multipurpose event space, staff areas, cafe / store and building support spaces.
Building D: Is a facility operated processing station and screening center for public volunteers. Volunteers are escorted in and out of the secured facility by staff at all times.

Request for Information (RFIs) Due 5pm PST October 24th, 2024
Issue Addendum - Responses to RFIs (Planned) October 30th, 2024
RFP Submission 8pm PST November 6th, 2024

RFP DOCUMENTS:
Interested subcontractors should notify Lauren Pick with McCarthy Building Companies at lpick@mccarthy.com to confirm your intent to submit a proposal and receive RFP documents via the Building Connected platform.
CDCR reserves the right to reject any or all responses to RFP and to waive non-material irregularities in any response received.
Prequalification Requirement: To qualify (if not already complete), please complete the McCarthy prequalification application available at https://prequalification.mccarthy.com/ prior to bid submissions.
License Requirements: Proposing subcontractors are required to have California licenses for the Work they intend to perform.
Public Works: This is a public works project, subject to sections 1720 et seq. of the California Labor Code. All subcontractors of every tier must be registered with the California Department of Industrial Relations before they can be listed on a Bid for this project [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)].
McCarthy Building Companies is signatory to the Carpenters, Laborers, and Cement Masons.
No contractor or subcontractor may be awarded any portion of this project unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5.
This project is subject to prevailing wage laws and compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations.
This project is subject to skilled and trained workforce requirements of California Public Contract Code, sections 2600, et. seq.
This project is subject to a Project Labor Agreement (PLA). All awarded contractors must comply with the requirements of the PLA.
